About LaToya

It is in my nature to serve my fellow man. As a military child, I traveled often and had the good fortune to engage with diverse communities. My optimism remains intact after 16 years of working in education, health, and social public institutions. My background in Sociology enhanced my social lens and equipped me with the means to conduct meaningful research. I have been enthralled by social research throughout my career and love having the opportunities to create. In 2015 I had the pleasure of presenting at the National At-Risk Youth Conference as a Community Educator.,

My name is LaToya but my students call me Ms. P

I am idealistic, experienced, organized, dedicated, and hopeful about the future. I am highly motivated to serve and bring a higher quality of life to my fellow citizens. My masters' degree in Technology Facilitation and  Educational leadership has provided me with the tools and skills needed to lead and integrate technology to increase productivity and efficiency towards goals in a 21st-century landscape. Years of working with vulnerable underserved populations has given me the ability to engage those who may be less inclined to seek support. I understand the importance of the need for hope within a community. I have seen through service how individuals can change their lives when provided education and opportunity to grow physically, intellectually, and spiritually. I fervently believe that education is the key to wellness.

I desire this position to help invoke positive change. While academic achievement is admirable, I have found through my years of working with diverse populations, academic achievement coupled with emotional intelligence, and cultural competences yields the highest results for positive change in a community.

My Why .......

Up north, down south, and abroad I was able to see and study disenfranchisement. Adversity has no specific address or income; I have witnessed the successes and struggles of various populations. I know barriers to success can happen in many ways. I have always sought to ease the pain of others to the best of my abilities.

Proven Project Director

I was awarded a CMS Health Marketplace Agency Grant to provide community outreach in partnership with the Health Department, LEAs, HUD, and the Department of Children and Family. Through a multi-state partnership, our organization conducted research to identify health disparities and barriers to access. The grant allowed us to provide health literacy, social services, and healthcare enrollments.
